5 Reasons to blow tradition and do your wedding your way

by | Nov 2, 2018 | Wedding

Are you thinking about your wedding and whether you should keep it traditional or just let loose and be yourself? Worried about the family being upset because you’ve done your thing and not what they were expecting and giving you a hard time because of it?

I’m here to give you five kick-ass reasons why you should put all your worries to one side and go for it.

1. Less stress

I know the planning process isn’t going to be stress-free so don’t put more pressure on yourselves by doing something you’re not really into. You don’t want to be going into your wedding weighed down by extra crap so don’t let traditions and pressure of what you think you should be doing bring you down.

Doing it your way means less time stressing about the “rules” and more time to get stuck into planning a wedding that you’re going to love.

2. You can get creative

I’ve seen some awesome things done by some super crafty couples. Pinterest is your friend, going on there is like falling down the rabbit hole of ideas. You’ll be able to adapt so many of them to suit your tastes, colour scheme and/or theme and you can be as creative as your heart desires.

Why not rope in the bridal party and your family members to help… get them involved especially if they’re handy with a glue gun and a paintbrush. You’ll be super productive if there’s a team of you and It’s a great excuse to get together and have a cheeky drink too!

3. You’re investing far too much not to be true to yourself

I’m talking about your time here as well as your money, probably even more so if I’m honest. If you’re planning your wedding over a year or in just five months don’t waste it getting bogged down under tonnes of options go with your gut. If you have an idea your set on don’t let anyone change your mind run with it and let it grow, don’t waste your time doing something that just isn’t you.

4. Your day should be as unique as your love story

I know this sounds a bit cringe but it’s true! If your relationship started at Comic-Con, you both love going to Disneyland or your massive lovers of craft beers why shouldn’t those things be a part of your day?

Table names, centrepieces, decor you can cater them all exactly how you want. Getting married to a shooting enthusiast? Why not save their empty gunshot cartridges like in the pictures above and use them for your buttonholes? Want Rainbow flowers dooo it! Don’t hold back this is your chance to put your stamp on your day so go all out!

5. Make yourself a wedding legend!

When you walk down the aisle in your glad rags feeling like a gazillion bucks with your custom leather jacket draped over your shoulders and your kick-ass Converse on your feet you’ll know you’re about to marry your lobster and that you have an awesome day ahead of you.

You’ll throw a party to remember, have memories to last a bloody lifetime, and give your guests the time of their lives… If that’s not a good enough reason to do it your way I don’t know what is!
