Super Fun Wedding – Laura & Richard
A super fun wedding this one certainly was but first, let me tell you a little about the build-up and planning process…
I first met Laura when I worked with her in retail over Christmas many moons ago, we were both picking and bagging up toys with no clue we’d end up crossing paths a few years later when she was planning her wedding!
Fast forward to last year and Laura got engaged to fellow archaeologist Richard which resulted in her getting in touch with me about her wedding photography. Now when I say this was a super fun wedding I mean it, even from the planning stages I knew this one was going to be full of personality and a blooming good party. At our first meeting, there were already plans for duck races, archery and axe throwing! To say I was bouncing with excitement was a little bit of an understatement.
Laura and Richard choose The Old Vicarage At Elkesy as their venue which was pretty damn perfect for what they had in mind, there was enough space for bell tents and camping for the guests and they could have the whole day outside weather permitting.
On the day itself, I arrived early and started the day with Laura and her maid of honour Ruth. They were busy putting the finishing touches to the decorations and the food before the rest of the bridal party joined them a couple of hours later. Bridal prep was hilarious and emotional in equal measure Laura and her bridesmaids were on top form and there was cheese, prosecco and snacks on tap.
The ceremony was beautiful after a more traditional service the couple choose to have a handfasting ceremony officiated by the lovely Susan Denton. Laura’s mum Anne also read a beautiful poem she wrote which was so moving I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
Once the confetti had been thrown and the group shots had been taken the fun really ramped up a gear. The archery and axe throwing kept everyone busy until the food and speeches and then it was all about the duck race and tug of war.
I don’t think anything I could type could really do this wedding justice, so I’ll stop rambling and show you some pictures!
