Wedding celebrants are awesome and I’m here to tell you why. Seriously – people are missing out on so much wedding epic-ness by not knowing about these wonderful people! I’ve photographed some incredible weddings in my time and I love shouting about the extra special bits! So, what is a celebrant and why might you want one? Keep reading to find out how to have an epic wedding ceremony.
What Is A Wedding Celebrant?
A wedding celebrant is someone who can lead your wedding ceremony. The cool part is that they can create a bespoke ceremony, completely tailored to you and your partner. This can include absolutely ANYTHING, from religion and rituals to movie references and interaction with your guests. No more boring, copy and paste wedding ceremonies! A celebrant can really add the ‘pizazz’ to your big day.
The Legal Bits
Celebrant wedding ceremonies are not yet legally binding in England, although I know some awesome people currently trying to change that. The way to go about it is to get legally hitched either before or after your wedding (registry office thang) and use your celebrant ceremony to make your vows and do all the lovely sentimental stuff. This way, there’s no faffing with paperwork on your big day.
How Do I Find The Right Wedding Celebrant?
There are loads of ‘em! Like any wedding supplier, celebrants all have different styles. If you’re looking for something specific, be clear about this in your search. You want someone that ‘gets you’. You can find a celebrant through wedding directories, wedding fairs, and google searches. Just be sure to do the research and make sure they match your vibe.
How Does It Work?
Once you’ve booked your wedding celebrant, they will sit down with you and get to know you. You will work with them to create your dream wedding ceremony! You can be completely in charge, or let the celebrant work their magic. At the core of the ceremony will be you and your partner. The aim of the celebrant is, to sum up, your values and celebrate the things you love about each other. As with all wedding things, there is no right or wrong way to go about this. How exciting!
